Russell emerging as 2019 ISU priority
If Kansas State or Kansas have their say in the matter, they'd keep a high school prospect from within their borders in state in the Class of 2019. But Iowa State has other ideas and is catching the recruit's attention with its early-season success.
Overland Park St. Thomas Aquinas produced ISU freshman defensive end Angel Dominguez in this year’s class, and the staff in Ames would like nothing better than to add three-star junior defensive back Jayden Russell to the mix.
In addition to his offers from Kansas State and Kansas, Russell has been getting recruited by Nebraska and Missouri. He’ll visit those schools over the next two weeks.
Russell, who has been recruited by head coach Matt Campbell, defensive coordinator and safeties coach Jon Heacock, and assistant director of scouting Derek Hoodjer, says he is the versatile player in the secondary that the staff has targeted since arriving at I-State.
