Ohio TE grabs first offer from ISU

Travis Koontz is a 2017 tight end from the tradition-rich football city of Youngstown (Ohio), where he attends Boardman High School.

Iowa State recently became the first school to offer a scholarship to the 6-foot-5, 235-pound Koontz, who has the skill set and size to play both attached to and detached from the offensive line. And that is what the Cyclones are looking for in their tight ends of the future with an emphasis placed on versatility.

Koontz said Penn State and Bowling Green are the other schools showing him the most interest this spring, but only ISU has pulled the trigger on an offer.
