LB's soph film leads to I-State offer

Iowa State became the first Power-5 program to offer a high school sophomore earlier this month after watching a mid-season highlight tape of the recruit.

Largo Pinellas Park defender A.J. Mathis added an offer from the Cyclones to go with another from Marshall. Since colleges can’t yet have contact with prospects in the Class of 2020, Mathis reported hearing the news during the school day.

The 6-foot-0, 190-pound Mathis said he doesn’t know too much about ISU yet, but looks forward to learning more.

In addition to the I-State and Marshall offers, Mathis said he’s hearing from Florida and Toledo.

For more on Mathis' recruitment and how the Cyclones stack up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
