A top 25 national prospect and an offered offensive lineman highlight the list of 2014 in-state football prospects who have indicated they will attend a junior day recruiting event at Iowa State on Saturday.
Urbandale wide receiver Allen Lazard will be making his first visit to the ISU campus since being ranked by Rivals.com as the no. 1 player in the country at his position. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Lazard, ranked no. 24 overall nationally by Rivals, is verbally committed to Iowa State.
Lazard caught 40 passes for 928 yards and 11 touchdowns last fall for Urbandale. He has an older brother - Anthony - already on the team at ISU and his dad, Kevin Lazard, was a standout defensive back for the Cyclones in the early 90s.
Also planning to visit Iowa State on Saturday is Keegan Render, a 6-foot-3, 310-pound offensive line prospect from Indianola. Render has scholarship offers from both Iowa State and Iowa.
A trio of players from Waukee have said they will take part in junior day - but one is a sophomore. Running back Trevor Allen is actually a member of the Class of 2015, but he'll be attending along with his brother - A.J. Allen - a hybrid defender who is part of the class of 2014.
Trevor Allen is 6-foot-0, 170 pounds, and rushed for over 1,200 yards in the fall. A.J. Allen had 44 tackles on defense and nearly 500 rushing yards on offense. A third Warrior joining the Allen brothers on Saturday is offensive lineman Ross Reynolds. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound Reynolds anchored the Waukee O-line last year with Ryan Glenn, who has signed with ISU.
