ISU an academic fit for Ghirmai

Iowa State recently put itself in the running for a Lone Star State offensive lineman by extending an offer and inviting the recruit to the spring game in a few months.

Frisco Wakeland junior Rafiti Ghirmai said he has already heard from a pair of Cyclone coaches and is intrigued by his second Power- 5 offer.

The 6-foot-5, 294-pound offensive lineman said he heard the offensive staff likes his athletic ability for a kid his size.

In addition to I-State, Ghirmai has offers from the likes of Texas Tech, Bowling Green, North Texas and SMU. He said he’s also hearing from Alabama, Arizona, LSU, Colorado, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Oregon State and Vanderbilt.

For more on Ghirmai's recruitment and how the Cyclones up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
