Iowa State visit is now for Powell

Chalk one up to the persistence of head coach Matt Campbell and his coaching staff in securing an official visit from a three-star offensive guard from Northeast Missouri.

Hannibal senior Dylan Powell had been committed to Purdue since last summer, but recently de-committed and has opened up his recruitment to take three January official visits. The first of those is a stop in Ames this weekend.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound Powell, who is the 10th-ranked overall player in the state of Missouri and 36th at his position nationally, said the Cyclones have done a good job of convincing him of the future role he’d play in the I-State offense.

Powell said he has a pair of official visits to Power-5 schools remaining following his trip to ISU, and that he is still talking to Purdue.
