Hermanns opts out

One more member of Iowa State's 2016 recruiting class, who had given a verbal to the former coaching staff in Ames, has decided to de-commit due to the recent changes in Ames.

Rio Rancho's Grant Hermanns said he has not been in touch with anyone on new head coach Matt Campbell's staff and has decided to move on.

"After a lot of thought, I've decided to de-commit from Iowa State," said Hermanns. "I haven't really had been in touch with any of the coaches on the staff. I've been talking to some of the other guys. I spoke with one of the cornerback commits and it didn't seem like he liked the new coaches and we're both looking for something a little more stable."

Hermanns had committed to the Cyclones in mid September, due in large part to the relationships he had with former head coach Paul Rhoads and area recruiter Stan Eggen.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound Hermanns said he visited New Mexico over the weekend and is in the process of planning visits to Washington State and Nevada.

With the loss of Hermanns, the Cyclones' 2016 class currently sits at 10 known commitments.
