Good-Jones commits to I-State

Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Washington offensive lineman Julian Good-Jones has been favoring Iowa State since the spring, so it was not a big surprise that he committed to the Cyclones on Friday.
Good-Jones participated in ISU's non-padded Friday Night Lights camp, but before that he arrived on campus early to take care of some other business.

"I went over a little before the camp, a couple of hours early," Good-Jones said. "I talked to Coach Sturdy for a while and he said Coach Rhoads wanted to talk to me. He asked me what had to be done for me to make a commitment, and I told him that was why I was there early, that I was ready to commit."
Good-Jones measured 6-foot-5 inches tall and weighed 275 pounds at the final Iowa State camp session of the summer. He fully participated in the camp fresh off the commitment and was naturally dominant as the best prospect in his position group.
Iowa State beat out two other major conference programs to secure the commitment from Good-Jones, who was also offered by Kansas State of the Big 12 and Oregon State of the Pac 12.
"I wanted to visit those other schools so I could see what they had to offer and to have something to compare to. I did those visits so I knew a couple of weeks ago that I was ready to commit to Iowa State. But I wanted to do it in person, so I thought the best time for it would be when I came for the camp. I just wanted to get it done by my senior season."
Good-Jones said he is very content with his decision to attend Iowa State, where the Cyclone coaches project him as an offensive tackle. He said only something unexpected could change his plans.
"If a team like Oregon or Alabama were to offer me it might be different, but I don't see that happening," Good-Jones explained. He said he has no further visit plans with any of the schools that had been recruiting him to this point. Naturally, an official visit to Iowa State will be scheduled sometime in the fall or winter.
Good-Jones became Iowa State's eighth known verbal commitment on Friday. He is the fourth in-state commitment for the Cyclones and the second offensive line verbal along with fellow Iowan Bryce Meeker. His commitment also capped a great recruiting week for ISU on the heels of a mid-week pledge from Sachse (Tex.) running back Devine Ozigbo.
