Former ISU target giving assist on 2019 DE

The Cyclones may have missed out on one Class of 2017 linebacker from a high school in Florida, but the coaching staff is sitting in good shape with a defensive lineman from the same program that will sign in 2019.

Fort Myers Dunbar defensive end Derick Hunter remembers well what his teammate Shanon Reid said about his official visit to Iowa State in the last recruiting cycle and is thinking about taking a trip himself in the near future.

The 6-foot-5, 222-pound Hunter picked up his I-State offer last month, just before the 2017 class was signed. In addition to ISU, Hunter claims offers from Florida, Maryland, Notre Dame, NC State, Akron, Tulane, UCF and USF.

For more on Hunter's recruitment and how the Cyclones up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
