DE Suttles commits to ISU

Tampa (Fla.) Gaither defensive end Ernest Suttles resisted the urge to commit while on an official visit to Iowa State last weekend. But after a week and a change to think about it, he made the call on Monday.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Gaither, a football newcomer in high school, phoned Iowa State assistant coach Shane Burnham on Monday and told him he'd like to commit to ISU.

"My mind has really been made up since I was on the official visit up there," Suttles said. "Everything felt so right. I didn't see how any other school could compare. It just felt right to me. But I wanted to come back and talk to my coaches and my family before making a final decision. I considered taking some other visits, too, but this is absolute now."
Suttles had one other BCS conference offer - from Indiana of the Big 10 - in addition to non-BCS offers from Ball State, UMass, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Ohio and Western Michigan.
Suttles switched from basketball to football as his sport of choice earlier in his high school career. He also switched high schools, transferring to Gaither from Tampa Hillsborough as a sophomore. He recorded 80 tackles and 5 ½ sacks in his junior season at Gaither.
According to Suttles, he will sign with Iowa State as a defensive end.
