Cyclone offer is first for Waggoner

Earning a scholarship offer is one of the primary goals for college football hopefuls that attend summer camps. That goal was realized Saturday night for a 2018 in-state prospect that participated in Iowa State's Saturday Night Lights camp in Ames.

West Des Moines (Iowa) Dowling defensive end John Waggoner said he was contacted by ISU D line coach Eli Rasheed after the camp and told that the Cyclones were ready to offer him a scholarship. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Waggoner is one of several Dowling prospects on ISU's recruiting radar.

There are more camps to come for Waggoner late this month with stops at Iowa and Notre Dame in his plans.
