Commitment 360: DB Pipeline

A position group that is a big unknown for Iowa State heading into 2016 is the defensive backs.
The Cyclones picked up a safety commitment over the weekend from Akron (Ohio) Garfield prospect Jatairis Grant. Several prospects were committed to ISU's former staff and they appear on the pipeline chart below, even though the definite status of their commitment is unknown.

But we do know that Iowa State lost several seniors from an underachieving secondary that didn't play up to its experience level in 2015. With multiple seniors like Darian Cotton, Sam Richardson, Qujuan Floyd and Kenneth Lynn and experienced junior Nigel Tribune in the mix, it should have been a definite strength of the team this past fall. But the secondary produced only three interceptions all season and two of those were from redshirt freshman corner Brian Peavy. He emerged this fall as the best DB on the team.
The Cyclones would appear to need JUCO help at safety in the recruiting class of 2016. There could also be conversions of players listed below as corners to the safety group. Positions shown below are believed to be accurate but position shifts happen often.
Iowa State's new coaching staff has extended a handful of known new offers to 2016 prospects in their first week on the job. That list includes targets like Michael Hampton (CB, Tampa, Fla.) and Romelo Webster (CB, Hallandale Beach, Fla.).
