The recruiting process is just getting started for Tampa (Fla.) junior-to-be defensive lineman Mayan Ahanotu. And Iowa State is out in front of the pack with the first offer to the son of a former NFL player.

Ahanotu is a 6-foot-4, 230-pound Class of 2018 prospect from Berkeley Preparatory School. His dad is Chidi Ahanotu, who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and several other NFL franchise after starring at California in the early 90s.

Mayan Ahanotu said he is curious and excited about Iowa State and the scholarship offer he received. South Florida and Bowling Green are the other schools showing him the most interest right now.
