Official Visit Recap: Brock Purdy

A lot of travel remains on the itinerary of an Arizona high school quarterback, but Iowa State hopes the three-star prospect's experience during a warm weekend in the Midwest will pay dividends.

Arizona’s Gatorade Player of the Year Brock Purdy spent the weekend at ISU on an official visit and said the experience made an impression on him as he heads towards the final weeks of his recruitment.

The 6-foot-1, 197-pound quarterback was hosted during his visit by redshirt freshman and Ames native Colin Newell.

Purdy is coming off a breakout 2017 campaign in the desert, as he passed for 4,400 yards and 57 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,017 yards and 10 scores as a high school senior. He has a 5.5 Rivals rating, which may be surprising given the level of interest he’s garnered since the end of the season.
