I-State in QB Mitchell's visit plans

A three-star dual-threat quarterback from southern California has Iowa State high on his list of schools and is planning to take an unofficial visit to Ames in the coming weeks.

Standout junior Re-Al Mitchell, who quarterbacked his Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco team to CIF Southern Section Division 1 and CIF State Open Division championships this past season, said he received an offer from the Cyclones earlier this month.

The 6-foot-0, 181-pound Mitchell has been given a 5.6 Rivals rating and is the 37th-ranked player in the state of California for 2018. He said ISU coaches have made it clear he’s a big target for them.

In addition to I-State, Mitchell has P5 offers from Arizona, Northwestern, Rutgers, South Carolina and Utah. The dual-threat quarterback appears set to make a decision in the spring.
