Four-star Chicago SG previews Iowa State official visit

It’s going to be a busy weekend for a Rivals150 standout in the 2024 class, who will compete in a game on Friday night and make his way to Iowa State for an official visit.

Chicago (Ill.) St. Rita four-star shooting guard Nojus Indrusaitis previewed the two-day stop a few hours before his team takes on DePaul College Prep.

“I’m looking forward to taking my time, really going out there to see what they’re about, have a good time, get to know the coaches, and build better relationships with everyone,” said Indrusaitis, who is considered the #118 overall prospect in the 2024 class.

“I like the entire coaching staff. Coach TJ (Otzelberger) is a great guy, and the assistant coaches are all great. I like their playing style and what they’re about. They’re headed in a right direction.”

The 6-foot-6, 175-pound junior said he likes how the Cyclones utilize shooting guards and the potential of the program.

“I feel like they let their guards play,” Indrusaitis said. “Right now, they let their guards play free and have freedom. They like the way I play with and without the ball. I can hit shots and facilitate. They just like the type of person I am.”

Otzelberger’s first Iowa State squad advanced to the Sweet 16 last March and concluded its season in Indrusaitis’ home territory.

“That showed that they can win games,” he said. “It’s exciting that they could make it even further this year.”

Indrusaitis took an unofficial visit to Iowa State earlier in the fall and says that helped pave the way for his weekend’s trip.

“I came out just to see the coaches and spend some time with them,” he said. “It was a good experience. I got to know them a little bit more. They didn’t practice that day, but they showed me around, told me what they’re about, and how much they want me.”

Indrusaitis’ St. Rita team is off to a 5-3 start to the season and the shooting guard is averaging 15.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He’s shooting 54-percent from the floor.

“It’s been going pretty good,” he said. “We’re on a good trajectory right now. We started off a little rough but now it’s getting better. I’ve improved on my defense and my energy on that end. I talk more on defense. I’m playing a bigger role on this new team.”

The Chicago prospect said he’s also considering official visits to Xavier, Ole Miss, and Illinois, with an eye on announcing a decision next summer.
