Young Talks Iowa State Commitment

Iowa State coaches reportedly received a commitment on Friday from a Florida prep defensive back. The Class of 2017 prospect waited until this morning to announce the news via social media.

Delray Beach Atlantic’s Datrone Young said a number of factors sold him on the Cyclones, but there were two that especially stood out.

The 5-foot-10, 168-pound Young also had Power-5 offers from Rutgers and Wisconsin, to go with FBS programs Florida Atlantic, Marshall, South Florida and Western Michigan.

Young’s commitment brought ISU’s 2017 class total to 20 recruits. He is the third defensive back and likely the second that will be targeted to play the cornerback position.

For more on Young's commitment and all of the factors that led him to choose Iowa State, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
