Will I-State stay with CB Mackey?

Heading into the dead period, the Cyclones were in heavy pursuit of a Florida prep defensive back that was a soft commit to a Big 10 program. With that period expiring this week, it remains to be seen if the staff will pick back up on the Class of 2017 recruit's trail.

Miami Booker T. Washington senior Dedrick Mackey was in the process of setting up a trip to Ames for this month when the dead period hit, and is unsure where he rates heading into the second week of January.

A pair of I-State coaches has been recruiting the 5-foot-11, 165-pound Mackey, including cornerbacks coach D.K. McDonald.

Throughout the process, Mackey has picked up P5 offers from Arkansas, Purdue and Wisconsin, in addition to G5 programs Appalachian State, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Illinois, Southern Miss, South Florida, Temple, UCF and Central Michigan. He committed to Purdue in August, but has since opened things up to other programs.

For more on Mackey's recruitment and how the Cyclones up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
