Vance beefing up for versatility

Nearly a third of Iowa State's 2017 football recruiting commitments have come from linebackers. First of that group to make the call back in February was Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Washington three-star O'Rien Vance.

And like fellow linebacker commits Breydon Boyd and Jake Hummel have said, Vance will go to Iowa State expecting to be cross-trained for all three linebacker positions. To that end, he has added around 20 pounds since the fall, tipping the scale now at around 230 pounds after playing near 210 as a junior.

Vance attended ISU's spring game in mid-April and said he might participate in a Cyclone summer camp or two. He also intends to take part in the Rivals.com camp in Kansas City in mid-May.

Visit the ISU Confidential private message board to read more about what Vance had to say about the solidity of his Iowa State commitment and the core reasons for why he chose to pledge to the Cyclones.
