Top 50 Texan reflects on ISU visit

After offering a three-star linebacker from the Lone Star State last summer, Iowa State got the opportunity to host the Class of 2018 prospect on a visit over the weekend.

Manvel junior outside linebacker Brian Johnson, who has a 5.7 Rivals rating, is ranked 24th at his position nationally and 48th overall in Texas, said he enjoyed his experience.

The day included a position meeting with linebacker coach Tyson Veidt, who laid out to the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Johnson how he could excel as part of the I-State defense. Perhaps the highlight of the visit was getting to speak with Matt Campbell and the head coach further sold Johnson on the fit he’d be in Ames.

In addition to the one he has from I-State, Johnson also has Big 12 offers from Oklahoma State and West Virginia, to go along with G5 schools Bowling Green, SMU, Texas-San Antonio and Texas State.
