Texas CB impressed on I-State visit

Iowa State extended an offer to a Lone Star State defensive back last month, and the 2019 prospect returned the favor by taking an unofficial visit to Ames earlier this week.

Plano Prestonwood Christian Academy junior cornerback Virdel Edwards, a three-star recruit with a 5.5 Rivals rating who also has Power-5 offers from Colorado and Purdue, said he was impressed with how much emphasis is being on a student-athlete at ISU.

At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Edwards certainly has the frame to play anywhere in the secondary and the Cyclones’ cornerbacks coach D.K. McDonald echoed those sentiments that day.

According to the 2019 prospect, McDonald will be heading to Texas during spring practice season for a follow-up visit.
