Tampa OL impresses ISU coaches

Getting an up close and personal evaluation of a Tampa, Florida, offensive line recruited during Sunday's Sound Mind Sound Body Camp, Iowa State coaches saw why they had offered him a scholarship earlier this year.

Jefferson rising senior Jean Marcellus said he’s mainly been recruited by offensive line coach Tom Manning, but that he got some work in front of fellow I-State assistant Tyson Veidt as Manning was working a big man camp in Ames.

The battle to land the 6-foot-4, 298-pound Marcellus will be a hotly-contested one as the lineman already has Power-5 offers from Georgia, Indiana, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, in addition to ISU.

Marcellus said he's unsure if he'll be taking an unofficial visit to Ames over the summer, or if he'll have to settle for attending a satellite camp and working with Manning remotely.

For more on Marcellus' recruitment and how ISU stacks up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
