StL back looking to visit Iowa St.

Iowa State coaches are still trying to line up a game day visit for a St. Louis (Mo.) running back who has had an offer since his sophomore year, but the prospect said he's exploring his options for later this fall or winter.

De Smet Jesuit Class of 2021 three-star standout Rico Barfield currently has offers from Iowa State and Purdue, but hasn’t been very active with his recruitment since the season began. He said his scheduled stop in Ames for the Cy-Hawk game fell through.

Much of the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Barfield’s focus has been on his team, and for good reason, as 7-0 De Smet is currently ranked second in Class 6A.

Barfield has rushed for 465 yards and six touchdowns on 61 carries and has three catches for 29 yards. He’s been part of a trio of talented rushers for his school, splitting reps with Taj Butts and Darez Snider.

For more on Barfield's thoughts of the Cyclones' open to the 2019 season and of the offense, check out a detailed story published on ISU Confidential.
