Soccer Background Helps Jones Bust Out

Next month, the Cyclone coaching staff will host an emerging Lone Star State defensive lineman who just started playing football last year.

Cypress Woods senior Christian Jones said he’s been in contact with a number of Cyclone coaches and is happy about the progress in his recruitment by the lone Power-5 school in his offer list.

The 6-foot-6, 263-pound Jones would be targeted to play on the outside, at least initially. Since picking up the I-State offer, Jones has done his best to learn more about the program and the opportunities it could present him.

In addition to ISU, Jones has G5 offers from the likes of Houston, Rice, SMU, Texas-San Antonio, Texas State and Tulsa. He left no secret of where his preference is in schools. He’s also hearing from P5 programs Texas and Vanderbilt.

For more on Jones' recruitment and how the Cyclones stack up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
