Ross rehabs, stays close to Cyclones

Although he would get sent out on a high note by his head coach in the final game of the 2017 season, much of this fall for a future Iowa State offensive lineman was spent on the sidelines in a coaching role.

West Des Moines (Iowa) Dowling Catholic’s Zach Ross said he’s looking forward to getting back on the field next year after being forced out due to a torn knee ligament suffered in August.

As the Maroons achieved their goal of winning a fifth-straight Class 4A championship this past Friday, Ross at least got to enjoy a little bit as he found himself on the UNI-Dome turf for the last play of a 35-21 victory over Iowa City West.

Ross was a frequent visitor to Ames throughout the 2017 campaign, making it to every home contest. He's planning to take his official visit next month.

For more on Ross' senior season on the sidelines and what he learned over the past few months, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
