Red-eye flight delivers Mitchell for Iowa State visit

It was a whirlwind weekend for Iowa State's quarterback commitment in the Class of 2018, Re-Al Mitchell, who played a game late Friday night but still managed to make it to Ames for the Cy-Hawk game the next morning.

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco senior Re-Al Mitchell pulled out all the stops in order to make it to Iowa State for Saturday morning’s kickoff. That included a nationally-televised game against West Hills Chaminade late Friday night and a red-eye flight from southern California.

The 6-foot-0, 181-pound Mitchell said it was worth it to be in Ames for the Cy-Hawk game and that the whole experience reminded him of why he became a Cyclone. Mitchell said he was hosted by freshman wide receiver Josh Johnson and spent quality time with a trio of ISU coaches.

The next time Mitchell arrives in Ames, it could be for good as he plans to graduate from high school in December and enroll in second semester classes at I-State.

For more on Mitchell's official visit and what he thought of experiencing the Cy-Hawk game for himself, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
