Ramos' top six includes I-State

One of the top offensive line prospects on Iowa State's hot board for 2018 has whittled his list of schools down to six favorites.

And ISU is include among the top half dozen for Joey Ramos, the 25th-ranked guard prospect in the nation according to Rivals.com. Ramos, from Glendale (Ariz.) Deer Valley High School, is also ranked by Rivals as the No. 3 prospect in his home state.

The Cyclones are the only non-Pac 12 representative on Ramos' short list. His other favorites as announced via twitter on Tuesday are Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, UCLA and Washington.

Ramos was in Ames in June to participate in Iowa State's Friday Night Lights camp on June 23. He said afterwards that I-State is in excellent position as it battles a Pac 12 bloc of schools for his commitment.

“Iowa State has always been at the top, just because of consistency and the coaching staff and the environment they put me in,” Ramos said last week. “They’ve always been at the top of the list. I’m not really saying numbers yet, but they’ve been one of the main schools I’m looking at. I had a tremendous experience (camp and visit) and it was definitely eye-opening. I was just like a sponge up there, taking it all in. This helped them improve more and I feel even better about them now.”

Ramos also said last week that he is eyeing an early December commitment announcement.
