OL Meeker Commits to ISU

It didn't take long for Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Prairie offensive lineman Bryce Meeker to make a decision.
Less than two full days after receiving a verbal scholarship offer from Iowa State, the 2015 interior lineman prospect committed to the Cyclones. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Meeker, ranked as the no. 1 prospect in the state of Iowa, called his recruiting coach on Monday and talked to the head coach himself a short time after that.

"I called Coach Blaney this morning and told him I would like to commit and he gave me Coach Rhoads' number and I called and told him," Meeker said. "He was very excited about it and said it made his week."
Meeker participated in Iowa State's one-day padded camp on Saturday and was offered by Rhoads afterwards. And camp participation was a big reason why ISU made the decision to offer, according to Meeker.
"I've been going to their camps since I was a sophomore," Meeker explained. "So they've seen me over three years since then and they said the improvement they've seen from me has been fantastic. They see me with a lot of upside and room for improvement and they believe in me to get better."
Meeker had previously been offered by Northern Illinois of the MAC as well as a number of FCS schools. Iowa State represented his first major conference offer and he said it was the school that he had been wanting to commit to for a while.
"I wanted to go wherever I fell in love with the coaches and the school and that was Iowa State," said Meeker. "It had become my dream school. I decided if they offered me I would take it."
Meeker said he plans to bypass the rest of the summer camp options he'd been considering for June and July and will instead emphasize working out at his high school and preparing for his senior year at Prairie.
Meeker projects as a guard or tackle at the next level.
