Ohio lineman is Iowa State's first commitment for 2018 class

Nearly two years out from National Signing Day 2018, Iowa State has its first verbal commitment for the class.

Pickerington (Ohio) North offensive lineman Alex Williams called and spoke with Matt Campbell by phone on Thursday morning, giving the ISU head coach the news that Williams wanted to pledge to become a Cyclone. The commitment came after a spring game weekend visit that impressed Williams, one of a few sophomores to already have an I-State offer.

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Williams will bulk up to play at a tackle position as projected by Campbell and the Iowa State coaching staff. And Williams said he is a solid commitment to ISU and will begin preparing now to build and shape his body to fit best into the Cyclones' offensive system and plans.
