Music City sophomore claims Iowa State offer

The Cyclones have offered a select few sophomores from around the country in the past few months and one of those is a defensive tackle from the state of Tennessee.

Nashville Franklin Road Academy standout Tymon Mitchell picked up his first offer of any kind last month when I-State Director of High School Relations Mitchell Moore reached out to the prep’s high coach.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Mitchell, who won’t sign with a Division I team until February of 2019, said he’s had some contact with Moore in the weeks since the offer and has done some research on the Cyclone program.

In addition to his Cyclone offer, Mitchell has gotten looks from Cincinnati, Tennessee, Illinois and Kentucky. As a freshman reserve last season, he recorded 11 tackles before gaining a starting role this fall as a sophomore.
