More face-to-face time for Downing at ISU

After hosting a junior recruit several times throughout the process, the Iowa State coaching staff would like very much to convince the prospect to make Ames his home for the next four or five years.

Creston three-star offensive lineman Trevor Downing, regarded as the state’s second-best prospect for the Class of 2018, most recently visited ISU on April 1st for the final big scrimmage prior to the spring game. He said the trip was mostly about getting some more face time with the staff.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Downing said he continues to be impressed with the work that’s being done by second-year offensive line coach and coordinator Tom Manning.

In addition to ISU, Downing also has offers from the likes of Iowa, Kansas State, Minnesota and Missouri. He’ll take unofficial visits to Minnesota later this week, and follow that up with a stop at Kansas State next week.

For more on Downing's recruitment and how the Cyclones up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
