June visit possible for Ariz. soph

Iowa State is making some in-roads at a top high school in the Phoenix, Arizona, area and is in line to host a few prospects from the school next month.

Offensive coordinator and line coach Tom Manning has spent time in recent months at Glendale (Ariz.) Deer Valley recruiting offensive lineman Joey Ramos, who has an Iowa State offer. But the Cyclones are also in on Class of 2019 athlete Dez Melton, who recently picked up an offer of his own.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Melton said he would like to tag along for an unofficial visit Ramos and offensive line teammates Xavier Robinson and Brandon McCrea are taking next month for the Cyclones’ Big Man Camp.

In addition to his two Power-5 offers, Melton said he’s received interest of late from UCLA, Fresno State and UNLV.

For more on Melton's recruitment and how the Cyclones stack up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
