JUCO DE favoring Cyclones

With just one season of high school football under his belt, an Alabama prep defensive end needed some more seasoning at the JUCO level. He got that last fall in Kansas, and has garnered more Division I interest ever since. He recently picked up his first Power-5 offer from Iowa State.

Butler JUCO freshman DeMario Burnett, a 6-foot-7, 255-pound prospect in the Class of 2018, made his mark as a freshman in the Kansas junior college ranks and was recently offered following a spring evaluation visit from Iowa State assistant coach Alex Golesh.

Coming out of Anniston (Ala.) Saks high school, where he had hit a growth spurt late in his prep career, Burnett recorded 22.5 tackles, including two behind the line of the scrimmage as a JUCO freshman.

In addition to ISU, Burnett also has G5 offers from UCF, Bowling Green and Memphis. Missouri has also started recruiting him recently.

For more on Burnett's recruitment and how the Cyclones stack up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
