ISU makes first offer to Fla. safety

Interceptions were the name of the game for a Florida high school defensive back last season, as he racked up a state-leading 10 as a junior. The safety prospect recently picked up his first offer from the Cyclones.

Seffner Armwood’s Mekhi LaPointe said he made contact with a Cyclone assistant coach who shared the news with him.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound LaPointe said he’s liked what he’s read about the I-State program.

LaPointe, who said an ISU coach will be at his school during spring evaluations, would like to take an unofficial visit to ISU during the summer months.

For more on LaPointe’s recruitment and how ISU stacks up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
