ISU coach calls on emerging JC OL

A JUCO offensive lineman from northern California has gone a long way from un-recruited high school senior to a Power-5 worthy player, even entertaining some thoughts of quitting the game of football along the way.

Pleasant Hill Diablo Valley JUCO product John Vaka didn’t have any offers coming out of high school but now things are picking up, starting with his first offer from Iowa State. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Vaka has added several other offers since.

I-State made a school visit to Diablo Valley on Monday and now Vaka said he’s planning to take an unofficial visit to Ames this summer.

For more on Vaka's recruitment and how ISU stacks up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
