Iowa St. moving up for Ballard

Harry Ballard is a three-star wide receiver from Florissant (Mo.) McCluer North. He ranked as the No. 9 prospect in the Missouri Class of 2016 and is also the No. 89 receiver in the country, according to Rivals.com.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Ballard caught 32 passes for over 600 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior this past fall.

Ballard has visited Iowa State before, having made an unofficial trip to Ames prior to the Cyclones' coaching change. The new ISU staff also liked Ballard as a prospect and offered him a scholarship in December.

But there is competition for Ballard as schools from the Big 10 and SEC have either offered him or shown him strong interest. But Iowa State has made a strong impression on Ballard and could be the team to beat for his signature on a letter-of-intent in early February.
