I-State visit possible for versatile DB

Already in the process of lining up an official visit with one Georgia defensive end in the Class of 2018, Iowa State may be hosting one of the prospect's defensive back teammates.

Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson senior Justin Birdsong committed to Appalachian State in early July, but opened things up in the weeks leading up to his final year of school. He says the Cyclones are one of the programs giving him the most attention. Birdsong's teammate Dionte Gipson is considering an official visit in September.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound defensive back said he’s heard from a trio of coaches in Ames and all like his ability to play multiple positions in the secondary.

Birdsong now has Power-5 offers from ISU, Illinois, Kansas State and Minnesota, to go along with several in the G5 ranks. In addition to preparing for his final high school season, Birdsong is figuring out where he wants to take official visits.

For more on Birdsong's recruitment and how the Cyclones stack up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
