I-State to get Holts first official

With only around four weeks remaining to make a decision on where he'll spend the next few years of his college career, a Southern California JUCO tight end is facing an accelerated timeline in making a commitment.
Fullerton Community College's Tim Holt will take his first official visit of the recruiting process this weekend to Iowa State, where he'll join teammate Breontae Matthews on campus.

"I couldn't be more excited for this weekend and have been waiting for it for months," said Holt, a mid-year transfer who picked up an offer from the Cyclones over the summer.
"I'm anxious to get out there to meet all the coaches. I've met Coach Sturdy in person, but I haven't met Coach Rhoads or really anyone else. Obviously seeing a big game will be a lot of fun. It will also be great to see the facilities, campus and meet a lot of the players."
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound tight end caught 19 passes for 244 yards and one touchdown in nine regular season games as a sophomore at Fullerton.
Although the Cyclones already have commitments from JUCO transfer Clifford Fernandez and high school seniors Dennis Wonnum and Carson Lensing, they will likely target Holt to play a versatile role in the offense.
"I'm going to be talking to them a lot about (where they envision me playing) this weekend," Holt said. "I can play a true tight end position, but I also think they see me more of like an H-Back or in a slot role. I'm pretty versatile and could play a number of spots. I'll figure out a lot of stuff this weekend and can't wait."
Following up on his weekend stop in Ames, Holt has plans for at least two more official visits between now and when he signs in mid-December.
"I've had an offer from UNLV for a while and I'm going to take an official there the weekend of December 4-6," Holt said. "I'm also going to visit Bowling Green at some point, although I haven't set up a weekend for that. I've got some other opportunities that I haven't gotten offers from yet, but could over the next couple weeks."
