I-State in Big 12 battle for Tex. DT

A top-40 overall player in the Lone Star State continues to hear from the Cyclones after receiving an early offer from the school last spring.

Allen standout defensive tackle Jayden Jernigan picked up an offer from ISU last spring and said he’s heard frequently from a pair of coaches from the staff.

The 6-foot-2, 280-pound Jernigan’s senior teammate Carson Schleker signed with the Cyclones during the December signing period. The two won a Class 6A state championship this past fall, with Jernigan scoring on a fumble return for touchdown in the comeback victory over Lake Travis.

In addition to his ISU offer, Jernigan has Big 12 ones from Kansas, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. He is a three-star prospect that’s ranked 37th overall in the state of Texas for the 2019 class. With a 5.7 Rivals rating, Jernigan is on the verge of breaking into four-star territory.

For more on Jernigan's recruitment and how the Cyclones stack up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
