I-State an early leader for Fla. ATH

Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell accompanied linebacker coach Tyson Veidt on a Florida recruiting trip last month, offering a 2019 athlete from the Tampa area.

Tampa (Fla.) Catholic junior Caleb Tate said he originally heard from the team’s linebacker coach Tyson Veidt and was offered about three weeks later when he and Campbell visited.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Tate said the fact he was also visited by Matt Campbell speaks volumes on what the staff thinks of him.

Tate has also collected offers from Toledo and Southern Miss, but says the Cyclones stand out to him the most.

For more on Tate's recruitment and how the Cyclones stack up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
