Downing set to begin ISU career

One of the prized additions to Iowa State's 2018 recruiting class is looking forward to joining the program in January, giving himself the opportunity to pick up a difficult position.

Creston (Iowa) senior Trevor Downing will graduate from his high school next month in order to join the Cyclones for the second semester. It will also give him the opportunity to participate in spring ball.

Watching the Cyclones play throughout the fall has also been uplifting for Downing, who says he’s been in touch with the staff on a consistent basis.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Downing has been a frequent visitor to Ames this fall, having attended all five home games to date. He’ll also be on hand this Saturday for the final home of the season against Oklahoma State. Downing is scheduled to take his official visit with several other commits in early December.

For more on Downing's senior season at Creston and what he thinks of the Cyclones' campaign, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
