Cyclones move fast on JUCO LB

While he was certainly already on Iowa State's radar when he took the field in spring ball, a big start to the 2017 season helped land a Kansas JUCO prospect an offer.

Butler County standout Charlie Benton, who was playing in his first JUCO game after redshirting last season, came up with 11 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, an interception return for touchdown and a sack against Fort Scott back on August 26th. Days later, he had an offer from the Cyclones.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Benton, who is originally from perennial power Opelika High School in Alabama, is on track to graduate in December and would have three seasons of eligibility at the next level. He also has offers from West Virginia and Bowling Green, and has attracted P5 interest from Kansas and Kansas State.

An official visit is next on the docket for Benton, but the Class of 2018 JUCO prospect is unsure which weekend it would take place.
