Cyclones look for leverage with soph DE

It's an early battle between a pair of old MAC head coaching rivals for sophomore Iowa high schooler who attended ISU's game against Iowa earlier this month.

Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell’s staff extended an offer earlier this month to Council Bluffs Lewis Central defensive end Logan Jones, who also has an offer from PJ Fleck and Minnesota.

Jones has visited I-State on a few different occasions, and has seen coaches at his school evaluating he and 2019 quarterback Max Duggan.

Although Jones is listed as a center in the Rivals database, he says the Cyclones are recruiting him to play defensive end. Jones has recorded 7.5 tackles from the position this fall, including five behind the line of scrimmage, and three sacks.

For more on Jones' recent game-day visit and how the Cyclones stack up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
