Connections to coaches, players help lead Biglow to Ames in '21 class

Iowa State’s 2021 recruiting class started strong offensively, but is starting to fill in nicely with defensive additions over the past three weeks.

Head coach Matt Campbell added his fourth commitment on defense and eight-known recruit overall on Thursday night with the addition of Seffner (Fla.) Armwood cornerback Noah Biglow.

“Iowa State is showing me tremendous love,” said Biglow in an interview with CycloneReport.com earlier this month. “It’s crazy how much they show me, from mail to personal letters to Facetime calls from the coaches. I even have relationships with some players, too. It’s made me feel like I’m already there and family to them. I’m loving everything they have going on.

“I love what they’re trying to build. Everything is a family up there. They have new facilities coming in. All the love they’ve been showing, that’s their whole team and it comes first. I’m hearing from Coach (Tyson) Veidt, Coach (Jon) Heacock, Coach (D.K.) McDonald, Coach (Matt) Caponi and Coach (Matt) Campbell.”

The 6-foot-0, 170-pound defensive back, who recorded eight interceptions as a junior, had a Power-5 offer from Virginia to go along with G5 offers from Buffalo, Florida International, Georgia State and Western Kentucky.

In addition to hearing from a host of I-State coaches, Biglow said his relationship with current and future Cyclones helped him feel even more comfortable with a school several states away from his Florida home.

“I talk a lot with Kym-Mani King and (Ezeriah) Anderson,” he said. “I talk to a commit who just went there, TJ Tampa. I’m staying in touch trying to hear what’s great about it. Kym-Mani and Ezeriah say that the coaches are going to put you in the best spot for you to help the team. They both did well as freshmen up there and know that they need to stay patient. They know that when I get up there, I’m going to love it.”

Biglow’s frame and ability have made him an intriguing prospect for I-State, given he could play any of the five defensive back positions on the field in a 3-3-5 alignment.

“I know they really love my length and what I could bring to the table,” he said. “I’m a very versatile player and can play safety or corner. “They love me at cornerback, but Coach Heacock knows I’m willing to play either/or for them. They love how much I love the game and how much ball-hawking skill that I have.

“Hearing from Coach Heacock that they play five DBs meant a lot to me, knowing that he can trust us on the field. That’s a big part for me. Just ball instincts and field awareness (set me apart from others). Seeing me on film, they know that I have the knack for being around the ball and have great ball skills. I know where it’s at all times and can read defenses. They know I break down the game.”
