Commitment 360: The OL Pipeline

New Iowa State football coach Matt Campbell said the plan is to not rely heavily on junior college prospects in mapping out a recruiting strategy going forward.
"We'll see it as fit, especially as we see our needs and what our needs are and aren't," Campbell said during his introductory press conference. "I know we have some of the finest junior colleges in a four-hour radius from us. I've had an opportunity to get to know some of those coaches from my time at Toledo.

"I'm not afraid to go in there and know what kind of job these coaches do in enhancing these young men both academically and athletically to prepare them to play Division I athletics," he added. "It goes back to the principle and philosophy of 'do they fit Iowa State, do they fit what we're looking for and can they do it in the classroom and athletically?'"
The Cyclones aren't turning their back on the JC market and that became obvious Sunday when City College of San Francisco guard Oge Udeogu committed to I-State. Fans can expect to see ISU continue to take JUCOs as needed to plug perceived holes in the depth chart. But with less pressure to quick fix things than the departed staff faced, Campbell and Co. can afford to be more selective and less reliant on junior college players.
With Udeogu intending to sign with Iowa State on December 16 and enroll at ISU in January, here's a snapshot look at the projected offensive line pipeline as it's thought to exist as of today. This pipeline also includes Grant Hermanns, a 2016 high school prospect that committed to Iowa State's former staff and said recently that he still wants to be a Cyclone.
The chart below shows scholarship players only. Keep in mind the late 2015 emergence of walk-on Nick Fett at offensive guard for the Cyclones. Fett will be a senior in 2016 and could be put on scholarship as he contends for a spot on the ISU two-deep depth chart.
