Coffey confirms I-State visit

Iowa State will get a basketball unofficial visit this weekend from one of the top 40 prospects nationally in the class of 2016.
Hopkins (Minn.) shooting guard Amir Coffey confirmed via text message to CycloneReport.com that he plans to visit ISU on Saturday. Coffey is ranked as the no. 37 junior in the nation by Rivals.com. The 6-foot-6 inch Coffey has an offer list that includes Baylor, Creighton, Indiana, Marquette, Miami (Fla.), Minnesota, Penn State, Wisconsin and Xavier.
Coffey plays for the Howard Pulley AAU program and he's the son of former Minnesota forward Richard Coffey. The younger Coffey averaged just over 15 points per game as a sophomore at Hopkins, which finished second in the state in Minnesota's Class AAAA last winter. He also averaged 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.5 steals a game while shooting over 50 percent from the floor and 38 percent from behind the three-point line.
