Coaching stability appeals to ATH Tomlin

Iowa State assistant coach Tyson Veidt saw a lot of potential out of a freshman prospect back in 2016, and decided to extend an offer based on that promise.

Now preparing for his senior season this fall, Pittsburgh (Pa.) Shady Side Academy athlete Dino Tomlin is ready to ramp up his recruitment and that includes a visit to ISU in the near future.

Tomlin's last name should ring a bell for football fans. His father Mike has had a successful run that's included one Super Bowl championship as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2007. Dino, a 5-foot-11, 155-pound athlete spent this past season at Shady Side Academy following a transfer from North Catholic Academy.

Given the early I-State offer, Tomlin has also had a great opportunity to see the program evolve over the past two seasons and the recruit said he was impressed with head coach Matt Campbell's decision to build a legacy in Ames.
