A junior athlete from the western Chicago suburbs was on Iowa State's campus last week for an unofficial visit and believes he is closing in on what would be his first Power-5 offer.

Naperville Neuqua Valley junior Owen Piche took the trip to Ames with his parents and was on hand for a spring practice.

Following the practice, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Piche spent some time with a pair of I-State coaches and got a feel for where he stands with the staff. Piche currently has a number of non-P5 offers.

Piche has close ties with ISU redshirt freshman linebacker Bobby McMillen, whose father coached Piche in youth football.

For more on Piche’s recruitment and how ISU stacks up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
