Chicago DL eyes return visit to Ames

One of the top defensive linemen on Iowa State's radar in the Midwest is a three-star junior from Chicago, whom the staff would like to land on an unofficial visit during spring practice.

Marist Catholic’s Gavin McCabe, who was in Ames for the Oklahoma game last fall, said he’s remained in constant contact with the coaching staff. A pair of McCabe's teammates also have offers from ISU and the trio might visit together in a matter of weeks.

The 6-foot-3, 255-pound McCabe also has Power-5 offers from the likes of Boston College, Indiana, Kansas, Purdue and Syracuse, along with several in the G5 ranks.

He said it’s the consistent contact from head coach Matt Campbell’s coaching staff that has kept the Cyclones at the forefront of his recruitment.

For more on McCabe's recruitment and how the Cyclones up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
