Changes aplenty in the Dandy Dozen for July

A new month is upon us so it’s time to update the CycloneReport.com Dandy Dozen – a countdown of the top 12 high school football prospects in Iowa. We’ll break it down in three groups of four for July, starting with today’s look at prospects #12 through #9 in a FREE feature for all visitors to CycloneReport.com!
Changes to the Dandy Dozen are based on offers made, information in Rivals updates and camp observations from the past 30 days. Currently, seven in-state players have at least one Division I-A scholarship offer and that group is naturally the top seven for this month. For a refresher to get things started, here’s a look back at the Dandy Dozen for June:

With our look back complete, let’s look ahead. Here are prospects #12 through #9 in the Dandy Dozen for July.
#12 – Nathan Koskovich, OL, 6-foot-4, 290 Pounds, Kingsley-Pierson
Koskovich is new to the countdown this month based on his performance at Iowa State’s padded camp in June that followed up an appearance at the Iowa City NIKE Training Camp in May. Koskovich has three Big 12 schools interested in him – ISU, Kansas and Kansas State – but still awaits his first offer. He told Cyclone Report that he coaches have told him they want to see some more tape from him in game action as a senior before deciding on extending an offer. Koskovich went head-to-head with some quality linemen at the Iowa State camp, guys who already have Cyclone offers, and fared well.
#11 - Codie Fetters, LINE, 6-foot-4, 250 Pounds, Eldora-New Providence
Some of those same offensive linemen with offers had their hands full blocking Fetters in pass rush/pass block drills at the Cyclone camp. Iowa State likes Fetters as a defensive end prospect after seeing his quickness off the ball in camp, where he played at about 235 pounds. Fetters also camped at Iowa and said the Hawkeye coaches are projecting him more on the offensive line. He hopes to play at 260 pounds as a senior this fall, but said his regular playing weight of 250 is more likely. No matter how much he weighs, he’s an academic heavyweight with a GPA of 3.96 and an ACT score of 26 that he wants to improve. Iowa State, Iowa, Kansas, Notre Dame, Kansas State, Stanford and several Ivy League schools are in contact with Fetters.
#10 – Matt Berg, LINE, 6-foot-4, 240 Pounds, Aurelia
Versatility is one thing keeping Berg in the top ten – he offers interested schools a number of position options. At Iowa State’s camp, Berg worked out with several different position groups, including the O-line, the D-line, and the tight ends. It’s on the offensive line where both ISU and Iowa see Berg ending up, he said. Schools that called Berg in May or visited his high school were Iowa State, Kansas State, Wyoming, Iowa and Northern Iowa.
# 9 - Chuck Kinney, LINE, 6-foot-4, 250 Pounds, Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln
Kinney performed well enough at Iowa State’s camp to maintain a spot in the top 12, although he slips one spot. We haven’t been able to catch up with Kinney for a conversation on the back side of the ISU camp, but we do know he was planning to also camp at Iowa and Nebraska. Wyoming, Kansas and Kansas State all visited his high school and he is on the mailing lists of Notre Dame and Illinois, too.
On Saturday, we’ll look at prospects #8 through #5 on the July Dandy Dozen and then on Monday, it’s a look at this month’s #4 through #1 in-staters.
